This photo is an example of how and why I use Adobe Raw.
Inside RAW you can correct/adjust the color temperature of the shot, aka the white balance. The cooler you make the temp. the more blue the photo becomes.
As seen in this photo, I was going for a "night club" feel and I wanted a very electric blue while maintaining her skin color and hair color. Those are two things you really need to look for when you make this temp adjustment in RAW.
While slowly sliding the white balance slider to the left and moving down in to the 4000 range watch the skin. If necessary adjust the saturation or the tint to get the coloration back into skin and hair. This is a really quick way to take a so-so photo and make it really pop.
As with every photo, it all starts with good lighting and composition.

Thanks for turning me on to this site. I looked and commented on some of your fotki album. I am an amateur as if there was any doubt and have been learning PS for about 4 months via tutorials, suggestions from others, etc. You're doing great work. I enjoyed browsing your photos. Best wishes. Jeff
