I recently had an in-home photo shoot of a newborn baby. I took my "baby-stylist/wife" along with me and we had so much fun, got great results and can't
wait to do it again. Emotions ran high and perhaps that is why I started to get really philosophical about this particular photo shoot. About 5 minutes into the shoot I realized that I didn't want a portrait of a baby anymore. I wanted a piece of art. I took some chances and they paid off. This article offers some insight into what I was thinking.

This photo gets a lot of people talking. To see some of the comments you can click on it and it will take you to my flickr page.
I'm flattered by what people write. I thought I would go ahead and deconstruct the photo and detail the composition behind it. Hopefully this will give you some insight into how to get shots like this, if you like it, from your kids.

A couple months ago one of my favorite persons on the planet came through Austin to play a gig at the famed La Zona Rosa in Austin, TX. Andy Davis, whose Latest album is now available (currently #4 on the charts) at Barnes and Noble, is not only one of the coolest guys you'll ever meet, but perhaps one of the most talented musicians around. He plays pretty much every instrument and he writes the catchiest most heart-felt music I've heard in quite some time....
